Basement Kids Play Area

Hi guys!

We redid our basement this past February-May and the first area that is fully complete is the kids play area! Literally as I write this I am 3 days away from my induction with my first child so it'd funny he's got a full play area but won't be able to use it for a bit haha. I collaborated with Room and Board for the room and am obsessed how it turned out. [all links to everything at the end of this post]

I always get questions on paint color and we did Pure White with Sherwin Williams (Pro mar 200). Flat on walls (since it's a basement), semi gloss on moldings, and flat on ceilings.

This is such a fun idea! A basement play area can turn an unused space into something really lively and special for kids. I love how it gives them their own little world to explore, imagine, and just be themselves. In a way, it feels like a small god story in english, where simple spaces turn into places full of joy and creativity.

This looks like such a fun and creative idea for a basement space. Turning an unused area into a dedicated kids’ play zone is a great way to give children their own place to explore, be creative, and burn off energy indoors. Many parents transform basements into playrooms with things like slides, climbing areas, art corners, or reading nooks so kids can stay active even when they can’t go outside.  It’s especially nice because it keeps toys organized in one area while still giving children plenty of room to imagine and play freely. I really like how projects like this show that with a bit of creativity a basement can become one of the most exciting parts of the home…

This is such a lovely and practical idea — turning a basement into a dedicated kids’ play area makes great use of space while giving children a fun and safe environment to be creative. I really like how thoughtful design can make a home feel more welcoming for everyone. Adding personal touches, whether colorful décor or meaningful pieces like Brass Idols for Home, can make the space feel even more warm and complete.
